Hello I didn't know that I booked 2 places until Mark asked where my friend was. Then I was told if I was the only person I would of got cancelled. This wouldn't have suited me as I am going away next week. Anyway, I have a good understanding of manual photo taking. Mark was extremely patient and helped me. I was able to understand my camera better and now know what some of the features were and how to use them. I would be glad to have Mark again. I also learned that I will need a zoom lens and I plan to buy this next year before my trip to America. My lens is a basic lens, which is ok for the time being. My friend put me onto your lessons as her husband had attended a class previously.

Very good. As there were only two participants we were able to ask lots of questions, including a few which might have been slightly beyond the topic. Eddie was very helpful.

This time of year, every astrophotographer seems to shoot the Orion and Running Man Nebula's, and why wouldn't you. It is an amazing sight, visible to the naked eye as the middle star in Orions sword. The light in this image has travelled since around the 680AD, when swords were much more common. 399 seperate 1 minute exposure are stacked in this mage, or well over 7 gigabytes. I have lived in Adelaide for 14 years and yet, had never shot our beautiful city at night. It was time to change that. When I arrived at the location, it was windy and the reflections were not clear. I decided to wait a bit to see if the wind would drop out. After about 30 minutes it did, and it was just enough time to get the shots that make up this panorama 10 vertical images shot at 24mm, stitched together.

Barren Salt LakeLast week I ventured out to Pink Lake. My original plan was to shoot in the water to get star reflections. I came along prepared with my big rubber work boots but what I didn't expect was how soft the ground was. Once you broke through the top salt layer down you went. I was lucky to make it out of this spot I shot the foreground from with out getting stuck or falling over with my gear. The suction in the mud is unreal. First off, I have to say that I am not a "Birder". But I love challenging my photographic skills and abilities. The American Kestrel is not a big bird, and it is fast. So even when you know its takeoff is imminent, it is still hard to get a nice clear photo of the bird. This particular image was shot with a Canon R6 camera, with the RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens at 1/5000 sec, f/7.1 and ISO 4000. Even with some clouds, we were not so fortunate and when the sunlight was casting on the water I switched to black and white mentality and was able to capture this photo. It was a cloudy day and my cat was up in the tree. he had always had very deep blue, but with all the defused light from the clouds and the contrast from the tree bark, It sent me running for my camera.I shot it on a Nikon D5600, with a 70 - 200mm lens, on January 25, 2024.I shot it raw while in manual mode, the aperture was 4.1, the iso 100, and the shutter speed was 1 over 700.

This one took a bit of planning to catch the Milky Way in the place I wanted, the Weather, Moon, and Milky Way core all had to be right and as you might guess it took a few seasons for it to come together, every time it was a walk in the dark over the sand dunes from Pennard to get to the right spot on the cliff edge, I'm a little picky when it comes to star trails and although there are certain formulas for shutter speed to "visibly" limit star trails I'd rather have none, so I dragged my Star
